About Tucker And Tate®

About Tucker And Tate®

At Tucker And Tate®, we believe that clothes aren’t just fabric—they’re pieces of childhood. Since 2020, we’ve designed baby and toddler shoes, underwear, boots, clothing and dresses that celebrate the wonder of early life. Our founder, Amy Tucker, launched the brand after struggling to find quality basics for her son Tate that were as cute as they were durable. That challenge sparked a mission to create a new babywear essentials line with attention to detail, playful prints, on-trend silhouettes and premium natural fabrics.

Our Story

The idea for Tucker And Tate® was born in Amy’s Brooklyn apartment in 2018. As a new mom, Amy found shopping for baby clothes frustrating. Selections were either cheaply made or exorbitantly priced. Cute outfit sets seemed designed for photos, not playtime. And Amy wanted Tate to be stylish—just practically stylish.

While on maternity leave from her fashion sales job, Amy sketched outfit ideas and hunted for the softest organic cottons and breathable meshes. After dozens of close calls in the laundry room, she engineered smart design details like envelope shoulders, gripper waistbands and reinforced knees. Amy jokingly called them “baby battle gear.”

When Amy went back to work, she realized her passion project could be a business. Her fashion retail experience helped with sourcing materials and manufacturing. She lined up independent designers to create prints with modern appeal. That first collection of onesies and footed pants sold out immediately. The working-mom-tested brand struck a chord.

Tucker And Tate® was officially founded in 2020. We’ve since grown from baby basics into a mini-me children’s line. While Amy now has a tiny staff and office in Manhattan, product testing still happens at home with Tate as our fit model and play tester. The name celebrates our origin story while encompassing all kids.

Our Commitment to Quality

At Tucker And Tate®, we don’t compromise on fit, function or fabrics. We care about every detail and construction technique. Our in-house team oversees the full design process—from sketches to samples.

Most products are manufactured in fair trade certified factories. We build long-term partnerships for consistent quality. Despite higher costs, we source premium natural fibers like:

  • Organic cotton
  • Ultra-soft bamboo rayon
  • Breathable linen
  • Plush French terry
  • Natural merino wool

Fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified free of harmful chemicals. Interactive pieces like teethers meet CPSC safety standards. We have all garments third-party tested for durability as well as chemicals. If we wouldn’t put it on our own kids, it’s not good enough.

We also aim to reduce textile waste and carbon emissions. Some babywear brands overproduce and have high leftover stock. We use on-demand production and smaller runs of our designs. We also donate any overstock to charitable organizations like Delivering Good.

Our Design Philosophy

The Tucker And Tate® in-house design team keeps our collections fresh and fun. We design clothes that parents will love as much as kids. Every new print, detail and outfit is infused with our brand DNA:

Playful – Whimsical prints, smart sayings and colors inspired by childhood delight. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Nostalgic – Vintage influences, heritage fabrics and old-fashioned touches like smocking. Warm, fuzzy feelings.

Practical – Reinforced knees, stretch panels, snaps and zippers that make pieces as durable as they are cute.

Modern – Minimalist silhouettes, on-trend earth tones and unique textures. Clean, contemporary styles.

Accessible – Avoid overly frilly outfits, intricate embroidery or heirloom styles. Well-made essentials for everyday.

Unisex – Shared prints and colors across our girls’ and boys’ pieces. Not defined by gender.

We balance timeless baby classics with of-the-moment details that keep our brand fresh without straying too trendy. The result is closet staples kids can live in.

Our Brand Values

Tucker And Tate® is motivated by the desire to build community and support other parents. We call our customers the Village. It takes a village, after all! More specifically, we stand for:

  • Connection: Creating a village of mutual support and bonding over the wild ride of parenthood.
  • Consciousness: Promoting mindful consumption and planet-friendly production through high-quality essentials.
  • Celebration: Honoring the huge milestone of starting a family. Kids deserve to be fussed over!
  • Comfort: Providing babies and toddlers the softest, coziest fabrics right on their skin.
  • Creativity: Imaginative details and prints that spark self-expression, not gender stereotypes.
  • Charity: Donating overstock, participating in social campaigns, and giving back to other moms.

Tucker And Tate® strives to live our values through thoughtful business practices and community engagement. We’re in this parenting journey together!

Our Giving Back Initiatives

Alongside creating quality clothes for little ones, supporting other parents and kids is central to our mission.

We donate: Any returns or overstock get donated to charitable organizations like Delivering Good rather than trashed or incinerated. We’ve provided thousands of basics to families in need.

We partner: We collaborate with nonprofit groups like Every Mother Counts and Baby2Baby through product donations, sponsorships and volunteer days.

We give discounts: As a small thank you, we offer 10% off for teachers, military families, first responders and hospital workers.

We promote parent-owned: Our Instagram highlights fellow mom and dad-owned small shops. We’re all in this together!

We celebrate all families: Our campaigns include children of all backgrounds—of varying abilities, ethnicities and family structures.

We go eco-friendly: We use recycled paper packaging and avoid plastics. Our shipping materials are 100% biodegradable.

We keep manufacturing local: Over 90% of products are sewn at our Los Angeles-based factory to reduce emissions.

We plant trees: To offset carbon, we partner with OneTreePlanted to plant a tree for every order.

Giving back is woven into our DNA. As a brand born from one loving parent to serve many, we’ll continue finding small ways to support others.
